Note: The job is a remote job and is open to candidates in USA. CareFirst BlueCross BlueShield is seeking a Data Management Manager to lead a team of technical data analysts in the healthcare domain. This role focuses on data curation, management, and ensuring data quality to support decision-making across the organization.


Responsibilities

  • Leads the team in deep data exploration and analysis gaining domain expertise
  • Translate business rules into technical specifications to support data pipeline development
  • Manage data lifecycle processes including acquisition, storage, transformation, and archival serving has de-facto data product manager for the enterprise data warehouse
  • Manage Master Data Management process for several domains
  • Enforce data quality standards, metadata management, and data lineage tracking in partnership with Data Governance and Engineering teams
  • Ensure analytical outputs are accurate, timely, and aligned with stakeholder needs
  • Partner with IT and Data Governance teams to implement data stewardship and master data management practices
  • Manage industry and CareFirst specific reference data for enterprise usage
  • Provide recommendations on business rules definition and data cleansing strategy
  • Support data validation, data balancing and data integrity maintenance
  • Supervise and mentor a team of data analysts and data stewards
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement, innovation, and collaboration
  • Serve as a liaison between business units and technical teams to ensure alignment on data priorities
  • Translate and communicate complex data concepts clearly to non-technical stakeholders
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including data engineering, data architecture, data product management, application teams, enterprise architecture

Skills

  • Bachelors or Masters degree in Data Science, Information Systems, Statistics, or a related field
  • 5 years of experience in data analysis, data management, or related roles, with at least 1 years in a leadership capacity
  • Strong proficiency in SQL, Python, R, or other data analysis languages
  • Excellent communication, project management, and stakeholder engagement skills
  • Exceptional problem solving skill and critical thinking skills
  • Experience with data governance frameworks and tools (e.g., Collibra, Informatica, Alation)
  • Familiarity with cloud data platforms (e.g., Azure, Snowflake)
  • Deep SQL and Data analysis experience with ability to provide hands-on support to the team
  • Understanding of Data principles including general knowledge of data pipelines (batch and streaming), data analytics and overall data usage patterns
  • Understanding of coding fundamentals and design principles to build high quality data products and enterprise data assets
  • Develop metrics to measure and track data quality and data balancing
