POSITION SUMMARY
Empire State Realty Trust (ESRT) is seeking a Custodian to join our team. The Custodian will be responsible for cleaning commercial building common areas and office space including kitchen and restroom maintenance.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Ability to lift and transport supplies delivered to ESRT.
  • Assist with all aspects of sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, cleaning and disinfecting (corridors, bathrooms, offices, lobby, elevators, loading docks, air conditioning units, sidewalks, stairs, snow removal, lay out rain mats etc.) if management deems necessary.
  • Clean all corridors, grills, louvers, saddles, tracks, and ceiling vents of dust and debris build up.
  • Keep compliant with all recycling initiatives and responsibilities.
  • Communicate with tenants and guests in a timely, respectful, and professional manner
  • Comply with ESRT quality assurance expectations and standards.
  • Maintain positive working relationships with co-workers.
  • Report any damages and issues to the management office along with supporting in minor fixes such as replacement of all lights that are burnt out.
  • Respond and Complete all work order requests by end of day and submit daily report cards
  • Shovel snow and apply salt when snow or icy conditions exist.
  • Utilize all safety equipment, PPE, and material while working.
  • Will be expected to inspect areas and fill out inspection reports.
  • Work as directed by supervisor or designee
  • Take inventory of all supplies weekly and give information to management team

WHAT SUCCESS LOOKS LIKE

  • A successful Commercial Cleaner keeps all areas clean, safe, and compliant with ESRT standards. They complete tasks efficiently, respond to work orders promptly, maintain accurate reports, and follow safety and recycling protocols. Success means being reliable, detail-oriented, and professional while ensuring a welcoming environment and working well with the team.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in commercial cleaning

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Must be available to work evenings/overtime if needed
  • Must be able to work on higher floors within a high-rise as needed
  • Must be able to bend, stretch, climb stairs and walk for extended period of time
