Key Responsibilities of the ICU Registered Nurse

  • Provide high-quality critical care to patients in the Intensive Care Unit
  • Perform comprehensive patient assessments and continuously monitor vital signs
  • Administer medications, IV therapies, and advanced life support treatments
  • Manage ventilators and other specialized ICU equipment
  • Respond rapidly to changes in patient condition and medical emergencies
  • Collaborate with physicians and interdisciplinary teams to ensure optimal patient outcomes
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the electronic medical record (EMR) system
  • Support and educate patients and families during critical care situations

Requirements of the ICU Registered Nurse

  • Active Hawaii Registered Nurse (RN) license
  • Current BLS and ACLS certifications (PALS preferred)
  • Minimum of 2 years’ recent experience in an ICU setting
  • Strong critical thinking skills and ability to work in high-acuity environments
