USESSC is a grassroots organization made up of communities and individuals in the United States that maintain ongoing partnerships with rural communities in El Salvador to protect human rights, build solidarity, and support sustainable communities in both countries. Many of these solidarity or "sistering" relationships have their roots in our organization's history of human rights advocacy and accompaniment of the rural civilian population during the civil war in El Salvador (1980-1992). In keeping with this legacy, our "sister city" relationships now link us closely with movements for social justice in El Salvador, and the country's largest rural community organizing movement, CRIPDES.

The newest member of our US team will work with staff and volunteer leaders of the network to coordinate and mobilize a diverse and fun group of U.S.-based committees and individuals committed to solidarity relationships with community, regional and national leaders in the Salvadoran social movement.

Responsibilities:

The US Administrative and Finance Coordinator’s job duties are to coordinate with Sister Cities staff to help carry out the USSESC strategic plan by providing U.S.- based administrative, fundraising and financial support to the Network, including existing local committees, national working groups, and national membership. The Coordinator will also support efforts to engage new people and to strengthen existing organizational connections while building new ones.

This is a contract position. The specific tasks required, and the balance of time given to them, will change during the course of the contract period. The Contractor, in conjunction with USSESC co-workers, will prepare a quarterly work plan to help guide this allocation of time.

The US Administration and Finance Coordinator will work on a team with three other staff members – a senior co-coordinator and a co-coordinator in El Salvador, and a US organizing coordinator – to accomplish the strategic plan of the Network.
