About the Role
We are supporting a leading powersports and manufacturing organization seeking an experienced Amazon QuickSight Subject Matter Expert (SME). The client has an established QuickSight environment and strong internal familiarity with the platform, but they are looking for a true expert who can elevate their data ecosystem, optimize datasets, and build advanced, insight-driven dashboards.
This engagement is ideal for a seasoned QuickSight specialist who has hands-on expertise with the platform at a technical, architectural, or developer level. The role focuses exclusively on deep QuickSight knowledge—not general BI experience—helping the client enhance performance, visual storytelling, and overall data strategy.
This is a short-term, part-time consulting engagement (approx. one month) with the potential for ongoing project support based on the recommendations and roadmap you help develop.

Job Description
As the Amazon QuickSight SME, you will work directly with stakeholders to assess their existing QuickSight implementation and identify opportunities for improved data modeling, dashboard design, and scalable BI architecture. You will provide recommendations, propose best practices, and assist in implementing enhancements that improve usability, performance, and business insight generation.
Key responsibilities include:
  • Reviewing the client’s current QuickSight environment, datasets, and visualizations
  • Providing expert-level guidance on optimizing data models, ingestion flows, SPICE usage, and permission structures
  • Designing or refining dashboards for clearer storytelling, interactivity, and business value
  • Recommending architectural improvements aligned with QuickSight best practices
  • Supporting implementation of enhancements based on your recommendations
  • Delivering documentation, training, or knowledge transfer as needed
  • Advising on long-term scalability and BI roadmap opportunities

Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
  • Extensive hands-on expertise with Amazon QuickSight, including dataset modeling, SPICE optimization, custom visuals, parameters, and calculated fields
  • Proven experience acting as a QuickSight developer, architect, or SME
  • Strong understanding of AWS data services commonly used with QuickSight (e.g., S3, Redshift, Athena)
  • Ability to evaluate existing BI environments and recommend improvements
  • Experience developing visually compelling, insight-driven dashboards
  • Ability to consult directly with business and technical stakeholders
  • Strong communication skills and experience in short-term consulting or advisory roles
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with QuickSight Q and natural language query features
  • Background in enterprise-scale BI or analytics transformations
  • Familiarity with embedded analytics using QuickSight
  • Prior consulting experience with manufacturing, engineering, or product-focused organizations
