Job Summary

We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Steel Detailer to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for creating precise steel shop drawings and fabrication details, ensuring accuracy and adherence to project specifications. This role requires strong technical skills, effective communication, and the ability to manage multiple projects efficiently.

The Steel

Detailer will collaborate closely with engineers, project managers, and fabricators to deliver high-quality work that meets deadlines and budget requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Develop detailed steel shop drawings using CAD software, ensuring compliance with project specifications and industry standards.
  • Review architectural and structural plans to accurately interpret design intent.
  • Coordinate with project teams to resolve design conflicts and optimize fabrication processes.
  • Utilize Bluebeam for markup, review, and collaboration on drawings and documents.
  • Assist in project management tasks including scheduling, tracking progress, and maintaining documentation.
  • Negotiate with vendors and fabricators regarding pricing, lead times, and material specifications to ensure cost-effective solutions.
  • Prepare construction estimates and assist in construction estimating activities using HeavyBid or similar tools.
  • Support construction teams by providing detailed fabrication and erection drawings.
  • Ensure all drawings are reviewed for quality control before submission.
  • Maintain organized records of revisions, approvals, and correspondence related to steel detailing projects.
Skills
  • Proficiency in Bluebeam for document markup and collaboration.
  • Strong negotiation skills to coordinate with vendors, fabricators, and clients.
  • Experience in project management within the construction or steel fabrication industry.
  • Familiarity with HeavyBid or other construction estimating software.
  • Knowledge of construction estimating processes, pricing strategies, and budgeting.
  • Solid understanding of steel fabrication processes, erection procedures, and construction standards.
  • Excellent attention to detail with strong organizational skills.
  • Ability to interpret complex architectural and structural drawings accurately.
